I want to learn more about my rental property and landlord

Accessing information on our landlords and rental properties is far more difficult than it should be, but the following tools can help you learn more:

Using this Parcel Viewer Tool from the City of Detroit, you can find out who owns your rental unit, when they bought the property, how much they bought the property for as well as the property's currently assessed value.

Search the address on the city's Rental Compliance Map to determine whether your landlord is following Detroit's rental ordinance (meaning that they have met basic health and safety codes, including lead clearance). If not, you can file a complaint here.

Search your landlord's name or Limited Liability Company (LLC) name here to get more information on their business dealings.

Research your property or landlord's eviction history here.
