i need EMERGENCY housing

Homelessness is a crisis and overcrowded shelters are not a solution.

If you are in need of emergency shelter, contact the Coordinated Assessment Model (CAM) at (313)-305-0311 9AM-6PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and 11AM - 5PM Wednesdays for assistance.

Three warming centers are now open through March 31, 2023. On off-hours, people can go to one of the centers:

  • Detroit Rescue Mission’s Third Street Warming Center, 3535 Third Ave., for single men; (313) 993-6703.

  • Detroit Rescue Mission’s Mack Warming Center, 11037 Mack Ave., for women and children; (313) 331-8990.

  • Cass Community Social Services, 11850 Woodrow Wilson St., for women and children; (313) 883-2277.

Library branches also provide respite from the weather during their regular hours.

Veterans seeking shelter can go to the Dingell VA Hospital, 4646 John R St., Red Tower 2nd Floor, from 8AM-4:30PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays or 11AM-4:30PM Wednesdays.

If you have experienced poor treatment or conditions at a shelter, you can file a grievance with the Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC) or attend an upcoming board meeting.
